Glenelg Jetty, early season land-based Snapper

With the recent reports of Seb and Matari having gone fishing , , , , in this cold , , , , I thought better not be shown up by the young blokes. This Ol'Fisho had something to proove.

So all layered up with warm clothing like "Onion Boy" and the car packed with , , , , the car , , , , I was ready to roll.

I went to my fishing destination, Glenelg Jetty to see if any early season land based Snapper were about. Great scenery. The water was slightly murky but not dirty, so in with a chance.

The night rolled in, the lights of the bustling coastal suburb was shining it's glow, cascading flickering romantic shimmers across the water as those soporific sounds of the waves were , , , , hold on, maybe I should have been more land based at The Walker's Arms listening to a Band and trying my luck with some of the land fairing catches , , , , ah, well, the dice were cast.

Gl 4.PNG

As were the rods, cast. Two Surf rods, may seem overkill on a Jetty but need to fang it out far, and the extra length helps manoeuvre any fish away from the Jetty structure. As I might have been "manoeuvring" around the dance floor, but to no avail :(

In true Baito style , , , , sit and wait , , , , and contemplate some great opening lines if I was out charming the ladies :-D

So, to be even lazier, Circle hooks are used, with a Pillie half on one and a piece of Squid on the other , , , , with the hook exposed to do their thang

Now, the fishing was poor , , , , only a couple of Port Jacksons , , , , Aaaah, The Jackson Five , , , , could have been listening to those cover bands :(

So as far as the fishing went , , , , compared to Seb and Matari who landed a few , , , , I caught nothing , , , , yep, nothing to keep

As the night rolled on, it was clearly evident to me that there was no-one else on the Jetty.

First I thought, it was too cold, then I thought maybe the other fishos knew something I didn't know. The Jetty hasn't fished well for some time now, so this may have been it.

But then, there were no Jetty Walkers, as there always is.

A perplexing phenomenon.

Then it came to me , , , , two words , , , ,

Alien Abduction :o_0:

So the thought of Alien probing wasn't high on my "to do list", so I got the heck out of there right away

Cheers, Bugz , , , , who should have been at The Walkers on his own probing adventures

Now, while I was at Glenelg, an upmarket type of place, I thought I'd give the Valet Parking Service a try at the posh Stamford Grand Hotel

Well, they get the thumbs up from me , , , , perfectly parked AND even reversed it in so it is easier for me to drive out.

Thanks Mr Valet Parker Dude

Cheers, Bugz

Ahahahaha
I enjoyed reading it Mr Bug.
Yeah when I'm fishing in freezing weather, I look like the michelin man all rugged up.

Top report and pics Mr Bug!!!
I’ve walked along that pier sooo many times as a young fella.
Never really fished it much as I used to fish Henley beach, semaphore and grange piers more.
Do they get many big reds off that pier?
Cheers

Top report Mr B & a entertaining one as always, alien abduction.. Hmmm!!! I gather it wasn't coffee in the thermos.. ;-)
Shame you didn't manage a snapper or two, perhaps a trip to the outer harbor breakwater may have been worth a trip though I doubt the bug cart would have made it over the rocks.. May be worth trying a shot at chasing some mulloway in the Port River area on a still night too.. :water:

cheers
Adrian

Well Mr Bug, you have inspired me to get out in the cold weather and catch some fish
But I went outside to pack the car & it was so cold, I went back inside
Maybe when the cold weather is warmer
Tomorrow is supposed to be 17° & windy , we'll see
Cheers Gra
