Tragedy in Tasmania's East

Post by poppy62 » Sun Jun 23, 2013 10:40 am

Unfortunately read this in this morning's paper..

A six-year-old boy has drowned and police are still searching for his father after a tragic accident on Tasmania’s east coast.
The 33-year-old man was fishing on rocks with his son and another man at Bicheno on Saturday afternoon when they were hit by a large wave about 5pm.
While father and son were swept out to sea, the third man clung to the rocks.
Tasmania Police and rescue helicopter found the boy’s body about 7pm on Saturday.

The missing man and his family were on holidays at Bicheno, where he had been fishing in an area called Suntrap Cove, located between the Bicheno boat ramp and the blowhole.
Locals said the sea was calm at the time.

Thats just terrible. Another reason why rock fishing is just too dangerous.
To fish or not to fish...NOT TO FISH ??Yea...like that's even an option !

Horrifying...I rarely even take my daughters to gunners, conditions have to be perfect...rock fishing, no way. Have to feel very, very bad for the mum and any siblings....
