Quick session yields a few trout...

Calm conditions today..

After having a busy day I found the time to have a quick session on the river (private property) this afternoon some 10 minutes from home. I wanted to be back home in time to have a shower then settle down in time to watch the Sth Aust Strikers in the Big Bash cricket. It was 5:10 pm by the time I reached the river only to find it running higher than normal and a very dark tannin colour from recent rain (73mms) a couple of days ago. This is also my last fishing session for 2016...

I went with the copper black fury here today and it only took two casts before I had my first small brown in hand. Four casts later I was onto another little brown which was soon followed by another one three casts later. A good start to the session with three little browns caught and released in such quick time. Well that was it for the next thirty minutes because I never had another touch in that time until I was nearly back to where I had parked the car. I caught and released two more small browns in a ten minute period before it was time to get out and head for home at 6:20 pm. I could have fished on for a little longer had I wanted too because there was some good trout water a little further up, but I decided not to. I'll leave the river alone for a few days until the level drops and the water clears a little. I'll be heading to another section of the river that I haven't fished at all this season, so it will be interesting to see how it fishes. It was well worth getting home in time to watch the Strikers win their match too
