Short Session Yields Trout No 150 For The Season.

'' Short Session Yields Trout No.150 For The Season.'' 26-10-15

Headed on over to Merseylea for a short spin session this morning (9.15am) before the gale force winds that were forecast hit the area. Well when I arrived at Merseylea the wind had already picked up and I knew then it wasn't going to be a long day in the river. A quick fifteen minute walk through the paddocks I was soon in the river flicking the little black fury around in a long shallow fast water stretch. It was a matter of waiting in between wind gusts to cast the little spinner up and across the river. When I did managed to get a cast in it was well worth it as I managed 5 small (240gm) to (310gm) medium browns along this stretch of water. The third brown caught was the 150th one for the season which I was happy with even if it was only a little fella.

Trout number 150 for the season.

The wind was now gusting stronger and I decided I would just fish one more stretch of river before calling an end to the session. With small twigs, branches and leaves now being blown into the river it wasn't really worth putting in a long day. The next stretch of river was a fairly long slow to medium flowing one and all I managed in it was one more medium size brown from three hook ups. Had the wind not been as bad as it was I would have fished on for a few more hours as I felt the trout were in the right mood today. By the time I reached the car it was a howling gale, so it was the right decision not to fish on any longer. It was still a good session that also bought up 153 trout in total for this season compared to 87 trout for this time last season.

cheers

Nice. I doubt I've caught 150 fish in my life, let alone in a single season...
