Lady luck & my best brown for this season..

Post by meppstas » Sat Sep 22, 2018 9:21 am

Well, we were greeted with some fine weather down here in the North of Tassie today so I headed off to one of my favorite rivers. Even though I knew it was running high I decided I'd fish the stretches I knew we safe enough to wade and maybe catch a trout or two.. The conditions were great but the trout were few and far between, though I did manage to land three browns from four takes on the Mepps Aglia fluro which was good. The best fish was the last one caught before I headed back to the car, it went 540 grams.. These fish caught here were all released..

Another solid brown..
On the way home I crossed over a small stream and decided to have a quick spin session in it.. I had several follows from a few medium size browns but no takers.. I was about to toss in the towel when I decided to try a small gold & black Rapala f3 hard body lure.. The change of lure resulted in a nice 1.4 kg brown being caught & released, after a good battle with this fish that's when I called it a day.. "Lady luck" helped out as well because no sooner had I slipped the net under the fish my line parted ways.. That's my best brown so far this trout season, though my trips have been few and far between since 4th August due to the crappy weather. Only 34 trout being caught in just 8 trips..

Once again, good work Adrian, nice fish and pictures, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Thanks guys, good to get back in a river again even though it was still on the high side, also the water temp is now up to 8 degrees which is good.. won't be long before the trout will come on the take more often... 9 degrees plus & I'll be much happier..

cheers
