Eden daytrip 7/4/18
With the forecast great for pretty much everywhere I was a bit unsure about what to do this weekend, changing my mind 3 or 4 times. Then my mate Kev called about 4pm Friday arvo saying he had Saturday free and wanted to go chase marlin, so we figured a day trip to Eden was on the cards.
We ended up leaving to Eden about 6pm Friday night and launched Saturday morning on sunrise.
The plan was to have a crack at the big dollies around the fad at the moment first, so we stocked up on little livies on the way out.
We got onto the dollies straight away, with the first bait not lasting more than 10 seconds in the water, and we ended up with 15 or so dollies, keeping a few for a feed (they are awesome sashimi!) before heading out wide for a marlin.
With the water at 22.5 degrees at the fad and only 19.7 at the shelf, we soon came back in to the 120m depth line where it didn’t take long to find a fish, a 70 kg stripe that Kev knocked over in 40 mins.
We didn’t see much after that and ended up heading to mowarry point to see if the kings were going, but they had turned off after going hard in the morning.
We hit the road at 4pm and was back home before 10, think I was asleep before the head hit the pillow, great use of a Saturday :a_goodjob:

Great read! Thanks for the report - appreciated. Mahi Mahi has been on my bucket list for a long time. Really hoping to get to Eden in the next couple of weeks - seems to be firing on many fronts

well done mate, that's some cracking fish and a great but tiring day by the looks of it.

6 hours back from Eden with a boat is bloody good timing, I was always thinking a day trip to Eden was out due to the distances. Great work on the fish boys, is that a Evo?
