Daiwa Rod Replacement , Under Warranty

Post by smokin_reels » Sat Jan 07, 2017 8:05 pm

A few days ago my ultralight Daiwa Genblack Shortbite, inexplicably broke when I was pulling some line through the guides while hurriedly changing a leader.
I wrote an email to Daiwa and they got back to me , telling me that they would need the rod to be inspected before a decision could be made.

I sent the rod back and they told me they would give me a new one as a replacement.

I had the old genblack Version 1 , would be pleased as punch if they gave me one of the new ones.

Prompt service and a happy result to what was an awkward situation.

That's good to know being a Daiwa guy myself  , so you contacted them direct did they still need a receipt of where you purchased it from originally? I'm asking just in case something happens to any of my gear.

Marty,

I emailed them directly a the email that was listed on their website.
They did not need a receipt and did not ask me for one . I had to send the rod back though , sent it in the original bag they gave it to me in.

Really wasnt too difficult

I had a similar experience with Shimano catana rod, the tip broke doing exactly what smoking was doing, I emailed Shimano and they said take it back to the store and the Shimano Rep will pick it up to take back to inspect, a week later I had a new tip section replaced free..

Can confirm guys the system works !

I got the rod in the mail today and they have upgraded me to a new V2 Gen Black .

I assume they didnt have the parts for the V1 I broke .

Super happy!
