Love the progress pics! The serious rod builders, I'm guessing they have an alternative to the humble rotisserie...as in a lathe or something similar worth mega $$$$?
cheers

Pretty similar, they're cheaper than my BBQ but I guess you can't cook a pork shoulder on them so you're not really getting the same functionality.

Guides installed. Too flashy but that's what will make this rod stand out. Should be ready soon.

I am happy with the result.

I just realized it was costly to start this hobby. Buying epoxy and threads all added up. I have 600 yards of wrapping thread at the moment but I probably used only about 30. I have enough epoxy to make 10 rods. I have enough masking tape to paint a house.

Guess what, I went to CA this afternoon looking for another blank. Addictive!

Indeed it is addictive, but the end result is a one off rod that you made your own ;-)

all hand made mate. One turn at a time. Just like rolling a snot. One good rub of the thumb can make a few turns. It's actually fast once you get to know the tricks. There is no need to lay the thread neatly side by side. Wrap it under tension even with gaps. After a few turns, push the thread side by side and tightly packed. You will be surprised there will be no over wraps.
