Good action at Karkarook today

Post by DougieK » Tue Sep 17, 2013 7:11 pm

I picked up an 8'5'' light surf spin rod for the new Mrs D who is expressing a heap of interest to come and get some salmon and thought i'd better take it out for a session to make sure it's safe.

Put my tiny trout reel on and cruised down to Karkarook.

Picked up my second and third ever rainbow trout in the wild :D (first coming out of the murray earlier in the year.

This one took a green and orange fluro 15g Tassie Devil

and this one a size 3 red and gold celta.

Both were returned unharmed to fight another day.

Whole heap of people landing fish today, glad to get into the action!

About 500m downstream of the Wall at Hume a couple of days after new years. Entirely due to the excellent advice i got on this board from people like Rod Bender and wading_not_drowning.

Best community ever.

Hi

First time poster long time reader!

I'm a local in the karkarook area and I've never had any luck! Do you all fish in the main lake? From the pier or walk around and try from the bank as well? I always find that you can't cast out into deep enough waters! Any tips would be great!

It gets real deep close to the shore straight out from the boat ramp and that bank.
