Stocked stonkers!!
To celebrate Melbournians being able to fish again i decided to go fishing at one of the regularly stocked lakes to swim a lure or 10.
It was quite busy as expected with news of rainbow trout up to 7kg being recently stocked in there.
Found a nice little spot that wasn't too crowded and started peppering casts all over the place
A change of location a few 100 meters away and probably the 7th lure change I came up tight to a good fish that immediately made a run for it, quite a lot of line was being taken akin to something like a stingray taking line. The tournament specialist bream did an awesome job of keeping those very small trebles from pulling when the fish was shaking its head..
Eventually managed to bring it close enough for a fellow fisherman to wade out in his boots and scoop it up in a net.
Quick pics and it was sent back on its way. Couple of fisherman helping me again releasing the fish in a bit more deeper water for me as they had more appropriate attire to manage the task at hand..
Thjs is my biggest rainbow trout, in saying that I didn't measure or weigh it.
Thanks once again to the 2 guys who helped me land and also release the fish, I couldn't have done it without you both.
Gear used.
Rod - Daiwa Tournament specialist bream.
Reel - Daiwa Caldia 2004
Line - Daiwa TD Sensor 6lb braid / sunline 6lb leader
Lure - Daiwa TD Shiner
Cheers

Re: Stocked stonkers!!
cheers mate.
Out of curiosity does anyone know how much that fish would weigh?
people around me were all saying thats a 3kg fish, but im no expert at trout fishing.
i didnt have a measuring mat, or a weighing scale on me, and we just quickly got a pic and send it back as it was pretty spent from running around a bit.
cheers
