Post by Boza » Tue Nov 20, 2012 4:42 pm

Does anyone know if the lake fishes any good I saw on the net that they made a little fishing platform there but it also says its a no take fishery so if I caught a carp or something like that does that mean I need to put it back bit confuse here.

Sorry just remembered it said its a no take fishery so does that mean even carp

Family Fishing Lake, No facilities. Melway Ref: 68 E2.
A small artificial lake in the center of the Caulfield Racecourse and managed by the Victoria Amateur Turf Club. Parking inside the course. Access is available from 9am to 5pm except on race days. Enter by gate 22 on Station Road or Gate 9 on Kambrook Road. Within easy walking distance of Caulfield Station. Managed as a Family Fishing Lake and subject to stocking with advanced yearling rainbow trout.

Definitely worth a fish as there are also brown trout and carp

Guess i can always pick up the phone and give the track a ring before I head down there.
It would be just my luck that I make the trip without checking and would find it's a race day.
Might have to pencil in a trip during the Christmas/New Year break, for now i'm targeting the Yarra and want to get of that tried further explored first.

It's stocked with trout and has carp in it. Was working at the southern end and popped in at lunch for a look. Two little Italian old guys didn't seem too impressed. Tried to tell me there is only carp in there. I started laughing.

Howdy,
Got a couple of mates down the right now actually..
Got 3 reddies in the first 20 mins and havnt heard anything since but ill keep you posted.
Ive fished their a few times - feels kinda weird but its actually a really nice spot and recently stocked. have pulled a few rainbows out of there too.
Ill probably head down tomorrow arvo - i live about 2 minutes away. They were catching the reddies on corn and soft plastics.

Thansk,
Nick

Do you have to release all the fish you catch?
