Yep not long now. Gotta find some maggots somewhere. It's hard now our fishing shop has closed.

Yes it is unfortunate the tackle shop in Healesville went - I would always call in there when I was out that way.
He was the one who actually showed me how to fish using trout nuggets correctly - they have always worked a treat for me since.
Hoping to get up to Marysville this weekend - but may call in at Don Lake on the way home and give it a try as well.
all going to come down to the weather........I have reached the point that standing in the rain is no longer fun :(

So what is the correct way for the nuggets. I was thinking about trying powereggs?

Nice small sinker - just enough to cast it out and sit on the bottom - 10-20cms of line from sinker to hook, small hook, so the nugget floats above the weeds and mud. Use enough of the nugget to encase the whole hook, no need to leave the barb exposed.
And be patient on the bite, let them pick at it for a bit and then strike.
I tried other methods to start off with and just keep missing them - since I have done the above it is very seldom I don't get a bite or a hook up.
Seems basic but sometimes it pays to have someone even show you the basics........
