Hi! I was wondering if the fish caught in hazelwood pondage are safe for eating? I read that it has had bluegreen algea in the past but dont know if the fish will be effected by it still? Anyone eaten any fish from there lately and survived unscathed?
Thanks

I don't think I would eat anything from there. Cheers muzza43.

Image that's what I caught in the 2 hours I was there. Would have liked to set up an aquarium for them but was too much bother. Not sure what they are besides the red devils. Tilapia? The tiny fish kept stealing my corn after 5 seconds. :(

Yeah, Tilapia mate, I am 99% sure. They are a noxious species and must not be returned to the water.

Also, you arent allowed to transport them and put them in a tank. That being said.... haha

Does that include the red devils as well? Or just the tilapia?

Would be awesome to set up a cichlid tank and put wild caught fish in it.

Red devils are ok to put into a tank as they're not listed as noxious :). But yeah, tilapia have to be killed

A guy in my lab is studying the Red Devils from Hazelwood and is always trying to give them away (otherwise he has to euthanise them) so if you want some let me know :). But catching them is half the fun
