Looking for work as a deckie

Post by Hammy Y » Sat Nov 18, 2017 12:56 am

Hey guys,

Over the summer holidays I'm looking for work as a deckie around the Sorrento areas as i will be staying down there for majority January. If you've got any idea or pointers please feel free to tell me. I've messaged some charters on Facebook and seem to have opened a few doors. I'm also 17yrs old, just a heads up

Cheers,
Hammy

Well best of luck. From what I have seen of the crew ads they usually seem to be after people for the entire season, specify they want young people for deckie positions (discriminatory but a plus for you), and some even say they want their staff to turn up for work when sick. I can see they need reliable staff, but reading that as a potential customer the last thing I would want is to go out with a sick crew, both as it raises potential safety issues and you're then more likely to pick up a bug.

Yeah that does seem a bit iffy, it sucks that I can only do like December-January as I'm still in school.
