Thanks cant wait to go use it, also amazed no one commented on the location of the box (didnt want to get up and get the box again so it sits on my printer for now with my camera)
I was actually wondering about that. I thought it was on a kitchen bench or some sort, lol.

I used to have a rovex squid rod, the 9ft though. It's nice, you'll enjoy it. :tu:

Bit of a noob question, but what are the qualities of an egi rod that make it better/more accustomed to squid fishing than a regular rod?

Egi rod is more parabolic, not so stiff in the mid section, it flexes the whole tip to butt, softer and slower action. Makes egi rod much more shock absorbent. Similar to a fly rod.

That's what I know and was told anyway. And yes, my solpara egi rod does all that. My soft lure rods are all stiff to the tip or only softer on the tip section.

From the little cardboard thing that it had on the first guide: Inspired by japanese technology, these high modulus graphite rods have been specifically designed for the serious squid angler. The parabolic actions will ensure that your EGI squid lure will stay connected to your catch, combined this with a chrisp/fast tip give you the perfect rod for casting and working your jigs with finesse.

From what i understand of rod actions the fast tip is the way the tip bends in it but honstly i dont pay attention to its action since i only need it to do its job and catch stuff, in saying that i went the egi rod because it was carbon and flicking my jigs around with my other rods is a pain since i noticed i can try all day on them and the jig doesnt work right in the water, ive had it fly out at me before.

Squid doesn't have that bony jaw, so the hook-up is kinda soft on the tentacle(s). So if you got a stiff rod, heavy class rod, and drag too tight, and the squid swim away from you and you're reeling in towards you... Good chance you'll rip those soft tentacles and bye bye Mr/Mrs Squid.

The squid rod is more forgiving and more shock absorbent for that squirt pull that they do.

Got these this week from bcf on sale.

Savage gear pants - wanted some proper winter pants for a few seasons now having a few failed attempts in getting pants that are good for bush bashing rivers on wet days and keeping the legs dry. These should be good - they seem really lightweight, spacious, hardy and waterproof. Info tag says teflon coated fabric, 100% waterproof 8.000 pu membrane and breathability of 5.000mvp. They also have what seems like a great feature of inbuild velco adjustable belt straps which ive never had on a pair of pants before.

Also got 2x Savage Gear Manic Prey floating divers - 16.5cm, runs 12-30ft, rolling/vibrating action. Nice big cod lure option, and at $5 a lure - its easier for me to fish confidently into snags than with something costing $20+ haha
