Corinella Bay or Cat's Bay anyone fished?

Post by JustHooked » Sat Nov 16, 2013 6:46 am

Hi all, been hearing alot of people been doing well around corinella and the Cats Bay area, I have never been down there but where do you fish off rocks beach? And what tides are good for fishing? If anyone can shed some light on this any info is appropriated.

Thanks in advance

I've only fished cat bay in the boat and can attest to there being good whiting/squid in the area. There's a low tide break there from memory which sees a heap of surfers in the area.

Corinella is good about the top of each tide. When the tides running, you'll need about 8-16oz bombs to hold the bottom, which is beyond most Pier Rods. I'd try Cowes Pier First, then hit Corinella on the way back if its not working

Cowes is one of those great piers where everything that swims in WesternPort seems to go past.
It also faces North, so can be very good when theres a strong Southerly ruining the day elsewhere.
It can be busy, and its always best to cast on the side with the tidal flow running.

Just need to find the happy balance between holding bottom, and not too weighty to scare the fish..
My kit normally contains 1-6 oz bombs, and then some ball and bean sinkers in whiting size
