Hooked a 100kg+ ray the other day on my 1-3kg rod (foul hooked) it didnt even know I was there haha.
I have hooked many rays from station peir over 10 years ago on 10kg snapper rods and abu 7000s lol

It’s the taking (killing) of rays that’s not allowed from piers, not the catch (and releasing).

As I understand it long as the fish is handled carefully and all efforts made to release it anglers are in the clear.
