Smashed them with a bag out. 18/12/17
Before i started fishing, my goal was to bag out on the ting. Tonight was going to be the night. After a few alright sessions, i really wanted to step it up a notch.
The sun was setting and the tide had just started running. quite beautiful actually. I love the Middle spit area. I had spent the last hour not fishing, but prepping. Tiying spare rigs, fresh burley, smashing pippi shells ready to throw in as well as pilly cubes. As the tide started to run in slowly, i began burleying hard with the pot and floating stuff back in the current. It didn't take long before the mayhem began.. I was struggling to keep up, with triple hook ups on big bruisers.
I reverted back to one rod or else fish would have been lost. it was a red hot 15/20 minutes. I bagged out! With the smallest fish measuring 35cm, and the biggest fish measuring 45.5cm and extremely chubby. This has been the most enjoyable session out on Western Port that i've had since buying a boat a few months back, and easily the most red hot session. Landing Good sized Red's are great fun at the time, but when you have a bite of Whiting like this it makes me wonder. However, the mayhem wasn't over yet. The Whiting had left the area, but thats okay.. couldn't keep more anyway. All of a sudden a wave of Pinky Snapper came through, hitting very hard, like raging bulls. Pinky Snapper on Whiting gear is great great fun. I landed 9 of them and kept 4. all 35cm. Can't wait to hit the port again this week.
