Lang Lang or Gummy Gummy, 12th July

Post by Whiskers » Wed Jul 12, 2017 9:42 pm

With the best weather in weeks today and a high tide towards late afternoon Lang Lang looked the goods. (Land Based).

It was glassed out all day and the Gummys were out to play. Fished it from about 2.30 pm until 6.30 pm.

The tally for the day was five. I kept one (the first and smallest of the day) and returned the rest. All were caught on Banana Prawn. Interestingly, there were no smash and grab bites, all the bites today were quiet little "drop backs".

Prawns are such an underrated bait for Gummys.

I see some frozen imported prawns now carry a warning do not use as bait. Due to the white spot disease. Has any one else noticed this my wife pointed it out to me in aldi the other day.
Nice gummy great eating

Normally some packaging states " not for human consumption"

so in this case it's ok to eat something with possible White spot and not harm you ?

Yet is harms a marine species ?

Call me suspicious.

Well unless you have gills or fins then you have no reason to be suspicious.

Different viruses harm different animals. You can have intimate relations with as many carp as you like but you'll never contact carp herpes for example.

Cooking destroys the viruses anyway so even if humans were susceptible to white spot unless you're eating raw prawns there is no danger.
