I watched a guy catching them at Boggy Creek in Nowa Nowa, he was fly-fishing using a little green fly. Once hooked, they go like the clappers, a real handful by the looks of it.ducky wrote:Stupid jumping mullet. Did my head in last time I was there haha.
Apparently you can get those big sea mullet on small poppers. But yeah hard to stick a hook into

Fished many times under and near the foot bridge and few times off jetty and wall...but not for awhile now...
Turn left off the highway into Station Street. The road follows the inlet. You'll see the inlet on your rhs. Anywhere along there should get you fish.

Re: Sawtell's Inlet, Tooradin
hey guys,
first post, but I fish the inlet quite often. Using lures only, mainly turtleback worms and HOP grubs in a black red.
My list of catchs so far:
-bream (lost at the bank, but he was atleast 40cm going by previous fish i have caught in Mallacoota)
-Luderick (this guy went 36cm and pulled like a train)
-Estuary Perch
-Trevally
-Mullet
-toadies
-squid (this little guy was about 5cm long and nailed a turtle back)
If you see a guy in blue overalls around 12-1pm fishing with a yellow backpack, its me.

Re: Sawtell's Inlet, Tooradin
thanks for the welcome.
Had a sneaky fish for 10mins or so at lunchtime today (i work in Tooradin) and got a salmon that would have been size easy...just dont measure as most things go back.
Took a HOP in docklands viper colour.

There are heaps of those mullets in lake Tyers.
They are massive and jump up throughout the lake and travel in small groups, however, they will not take anything.
Apparently they filter the water and eat what they need, hence they will not take any baits

Pretty sure we've walked past each other a couple of times. Add juvenile salmon to that list.
