Western port beach fishing 13-9-14

Post by nhillboy » Sat Sep 13, 2014 8:56 pm

Hi all. Went with a workmate to his beach spot near Corinella. We wanted to see what was biting even though water temp is still cold. Fished from 1.30 to 5.30pm with many bites and few hook ups. Landed 1 big mullet, 1 28cm leather jacket, 2 28cm KG Whiting (released), about 10 toadys and 1 beauty of a Trevally (42cm) who put up a magnificent fight. Overall it was a much better session than what we expected. Used pipis, pilchards and squid for bait. I kept the Trev and gave the LJ to my mate to go with his mullet.... A great day at the beach we had, cheers...

I think leather jackets are a very colourful fish but not a fan of eating them sounds like you had a good session I am sure it will improve as the water warms up

For sure, as the water warms the fish will come on in bigger numbers especially the King George.
LJ's are good eating fish. Mother in law fries them whole.
