In search of salmon = donuts.....

Post by poodoo » Wed May 14, 2014 1:37 pm

Went for a spin down at the Gun yesterday, was a washing machine, white water everywhere  . Was deciding what to do and gave it a crack anyway. The surf cam didn't look that bad....oh well.....

Went for a walk down the beach and back for 0 hits, some of the bait fisho's were getting some mullet, but didn't see any sambo's caught. :lolf: So if u like yellow eye mullet they are in close just past the wash on the beach break.

On the bright side there is now plenty of nice structure all along the beach. From the ramp all the way towards cape shank.

Hit up a couple of places on the drive back to look for the salmon and donuted again......that's fishing..... :bat:

Was way too much white water and sand in the water yesterday, if there were salmon there i doubt they would be able to even see the lure coming back. If i was a salmon i'll be in the clear water way away from the beach.

Had a 60 gram lure that was being thrown around by the waves, just all about timing sometimes, but i needed to get out and release some stress....nothing better than some spinning time.

As I said int he other thread I check out willyweather and if the swell is higher than 1.0 I generally don't bother spinning.

Donuts suck sometimes but they make the good days all the sweeter!

Generally I'll fish up to 1.5 as long as there are decent timing breaks in the waves, wasn't the case yesterday. Also a stronger wind would have helped.

One tiddler first cast today...then nada for the next four hours. Was messy and rough and the beach profile has change a lot since I was last there a few weeks ago. Glorious day to be outside though.
