It's been a freaking weird year down there.

Mid April we had an absolute explosion of fish over 50cm for a couple of days, since then a trickle of 2-3 fish sessions all in the 25-40 range. Since april 15th i've seen one fish i'd call really good come in which was a 58cm 1.98 to CarlG and apart from that I dont' think i've seen a 50+ off the gun since.
Be interested to see what wins the salmon comp down that way this year then, maybe smaller sizes will do?

Thanks guys, appreciated!

I have to say, I owe a big thanks to you all on this forum as it accounted for about 90% of my preparedness from setup to location to clothing. And it's part of why I've been making a much more concerted effort to be an active part of the forum, even though I don't get out a heap. Without it I would have been bumbling my way along and have no real idea what to do! So thank you to all of you who are so willing to share your knowledge and experience.

I've noticed that just from reports (or lack thereof). Counting myself doubly lucky that I managed to land something first time down there!

I had a 57cm back in June and havent beat 40 cms in about 10 trips since, not only that haven't caught more than three in a session either (could all be down to my crappy fishing though).

The skill cap on salmon isn't really all that high.
