Personally if I get a chance to wet a line, I'll go regardless of the weather or tide (unless it's extreme). Don't get too many opportunities these days. Some times are better than other but usually come away with a fish.

Don't know if it just coincidence but I seem to do best on a falling tide but not at the bottom.

A couple of metres of swell and a crosswind are recipe for a bad time at the Gun.

I stopped by Gunnamatta for a quick look this morning, to see if anyone was braving the swell and crosswind - I was amazed at how many people were fishing there. I thought the place would be deserted in those conditions, but it was buzzing. Didn't see anyone in shorts and bare feet though.

I went down this morning for the first time and it wasn't quite what I expected, seen everyone in waders and considered going home but I was dumb enough to go for a fish in shorts and bare feet

Try walking the length of the beach in waders, or gumboots.
Shorts and bare feet are the way to go.

Yeah I always fish it in shorts and bare feet, but it isn't much fun in cold weather with an onshore wind.
