Awesome catch! ive only ever fished the surf with bait and not done too greatly..
what kinda rod would i need to be looking at to do this? ive got the usual 10-13.5ft surf rods but ive got a Shakespeare Agility im-7 10'6 1-4kg rod, would this be suitable for lure casting in the surf or would it be way too light to lure fish in the surf?

Nice work Doug..!...the popper is magic isn't it..?
They were bloody thick in number tuesday and yesterday. Went quiet all of a sudden last night, with four of us on them, which was odd, one second three of us hooked up, next cast, disappeared...
Rogs, you need to get a spin setup sorted man, get down here for some practice before your next Albany trip..

Nice work Dougie. Looks like the fun has well and truly begun.

Can I ask what size popper you are using and do they cast ok?
