The 4000 i use these days is a pflueger supreme XT from Anaconda. They come on sale often for $99. I've read quite a few bad reviews but so far mine is faultless. Spare spool with 10lb fireline for the beach and martha, main spool with 20lb fins for the ocean rock ledges and bigger spinning opportunities.

For the rod, the Catana will serve every purpose you need it too, but to be honest the impact nano is an all round better rod for only fractionally more money.

I use the 4000 shimano aero ci4+ on an impact nano 9ft rod been using that solidly at gunners so far and cannot fault the combo at all. Reel is not cheap however looking at around 280 mark.

viewtopic.php?f=76&t=11511 has one for sale already spooled with braid. Ive got 3 of the 9ft nano xt. Havent had them for long but cant fault them.

seriously why would you use a $200+ reel on the sand :doh1: get yourself something cheap it will take a beating with sand and saltwater..... I just use a cheap shimano canza does the job just fine
