It's close enough to gunnamatta that i'd guess you'll get salmon there.

Metal slugs or Bluebait/surfpopper paternoster combo will do the trick.

There is a great article by Dan Lee on exactly how to spin a surf beach if you google it.

Thanks DougieK will do.

I've never really surf fished before but my girlfriend has a house 2 minutes walk from this beach

Is there anything special about gunna that would make it worth driving from blairgowrie to there or should I just give the local beach a crack?

You can catch fish where you are and not driving is an added bonus. A few of us on here have a certain love for gunnamatta but there are salmon pretty much everywhere. If you choose to spin a 40-60g slug is best, make sure your rod can cast that heavy. Color is largely irrelevant as long as it's shiny. The very short version is walk and cast until you find the fish. Keep casting until they unfind you.

I use a Shimano catana 902 and a pflueger XT but honestly, any 9ish foot spin rod with reel vaguely 4000 sized will do.

If you're still around later in the week / this coming weekend I might pop down for a spin if you're interested in joining me.

Would you mind posting here if you do decide to head down? I would really appreciate any firsthand advice you could give

Only thing is I'm in Melbourne and not sure what days I'll be heading down to see the girlfriend but chances are it will be some time later this week

Cheers

I'll shoot you a pm, I get it most days but ours often only for an hour or so, if the conditions are good I'll put aside an evening and head down
