Gunna 20/09

Post by luca.321 » Sun Sep 21, 2014 12:45 pm

Went there yesterday from 4 to 7...I was the only one on the beach.
Plenty of fish but didn`t catch anything. Was on lure on one rod and on ganged hooks + popper on the other. Fishes seemed to like my pilchards but I still have to work out how to understand when a fish is biting or if it is just the waves….

If your bait fishing just play close attention to the wave action and the timing of your rod movement, they will be in unison. Also the waves tend to have gradual pull down action of the rod tip where a hungry salmon will on most cases hit the bait pretty hard and that will be more of a sharp jerking action.
If they are feeding in most cases they will hit the bait pretty hard and hook themselves especially if you are using circles.

Some species are subtle crafty things. Not salmon. If you hook a salmon or get a got from one you'll know about it. If you think you are getting hits but not hookups try dropping the size of your hook or presenting your bait differently
