Not my experience but a friend talks about squid and salmon off the pier.

Im not sure about this time of year but I do know that as well as squid and salmon they get mullet and barracouta. there are also plenty of pests in the form of toad fish, banjo and rays that will happily take you bate and go for a run.
one thing i do know for sure is that if the seal turns up, you wont catch anything.

A couple of other spot at the bay is wild dog beach if you are into beach fishing for salmon. Or if you go down to where the footy oval is there is a river that holds bream as well as pesky toads.

and if you are keen on a 20 min drive aire river has bream and trout. I have also known of people who have caught gummys off the beach right where the river comes out.

Hope this helps

I have caught salmon off the end off the pier, leatherjacket in the harbour between the boats and grass whiting of the boat ramp. All about this time last year.
