I don't know about anyone else, but the only bream I have caught out the barham river have never been bigger than 20cm fish, and have fished the river quite a few times. Give marengo a go from the beach just near the reef, have caught some decent bream and whiting their.

I have caught some small salmon out of the barham river mouth and off wild dog beach.

Just south of Apollo bay, off Marengo crescent, fish either of the beach or rocks weather depending. Also get black drummer, flathead, trevally and squid. If you want some stonker bream, give aire river a go if you can be bothered travelling that little further.

I was at Apollo Bay on the long weekend and although i had not much luck one of my neighbours up there caught 7 bream in a morning session on that little river where the football ground is. sorry im not sure of the name. but head out of Apollo Bay towards Marengo and you will see the footy oval on the right, fish under/near the bridge.

the bait used were small crabs found under rocks around the pier and rock wall the night before

Hope this helps
There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the bank like an idiot, I excel in the latter!!!
