Plenty of small fun fish to be had from the banks past the bridge all the way to the mouth, the surf is good for just about everything just pot luck but we reguarly pull good salmon from there, big hike if you dont have a 4x4 or a boat but wel worth it if its a nice day, southerly winds on the beach can be bitterly cold even in summer, you can have fires on both sides of the bridge now which is a lot better, but isnt dog friendly, the river usually opens after a couple of big rains but doesnt stay open for long, couple of day usually, if the farmers feed paddocks are getting flooded youll often see them drive down in a tractor and start the mouth by digging a channel, great place to enjoy with the family
