Lady Julia Percy island tuna
Me and 3 mates headed out Sat morning at 1Am arriving at Port Fairy at 5.30AM. Launched the boat and headed straight for LJP island with a 2.5m swell headon.
Half way through the trip we then realized we had forgotten to buy ice, so we turned right back. Nevertheless by 8.30AM we were back on the water trolling med size skirts south of LJP island.
It only took 5 minutes for the first double hook-up which resulted in 2x37kg SBT boated.
By 10:00AM we had boated 5 fish to 40kg and had ran out of space to keep them and ice to cool them, so we pulled the plug and headed back in.
Arrived back home in Melbourne at 4.30PM. Cleaned, filleted and portion bagged one fish (which took me about 1hr) and froze the other one whole (without head and guts of course). Hopefully I'll get around to fillet it, slice it in portions and bag it today.
Freezer is already filled with tuna meat, so I might give 1/2 of the frozen one to my boss. (you never know when I feel like another tuna trip on a workday hehe )
All in all a quick and productive trip, but I would've enjoyed spending more time at JPC island for some kingies too. Oh well, next time.

Good trip with some chunky fish there, well done, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Really, so do I. Only we're going 5 days chasing Marlin.Nude up wrote:nice work seems like plenty of fish around I have a bermie 10 day trip in a few weeks with the boys so building browny points with the misses
Last year we tagged a 153kg and boated one 124kg (which later became a trophy). Hopefully we can at least match last year's result.
bm, thanks!
