I was going through some old pics and stumbled on some Port Campbell pictures, this place is amazing with so many varieties on tap, virtually anything that swims is caught there, the pier is small so when word gets around " There on ! " all the locals soon fill up the pier, my most memorable catch is a cray fish that got tangled in my line, pulled the scales down to 1 kg ! not bad ! it's the place I've seen the biggest King George whiting in my life, from memory it was definitely over 50 CM and a very dark color not the usual grey with spots, must have been very old ? the couta are over 1 mtr, the trevally school up in huge schools at the right time of year, the squid are suckers for any lure so no fancy jigs needed, and the salmon are there all year round but the size will vary, drop your line straight down and the parrot fish will test you, there are some huge resident fish under the pier waiting for bait scraps falling over, this place is better than lorne pier IMO, pity it's so far or I'd be there every weekend, so here are some pics on a rough day, we cleaned up on the salmon in these rough conditions, no one there but me and mate in Antarctica gear...

I've been there a few times. I run a tour business and often travel to port Campbell as a last stop along great ocean road. I've never had much luck there but it certainly does feel fishy.
Ps... Thanks for the encouragement that there are still spots that are bountiful in terms of species.

One thing I found is that this place is at it's best right through the rising tide, and the trevally only take salted white bait, when they school up you only throw out no more than 5 mtrs, they congregate close to the pier, for the squid I fish the lower landing and cast towards the beach and retrieve, the couta are real arm stretchers ! but usually have worms, you never know what enters this little bay on a daily basis...

I was smoked by a few Trevally at Port Campbell earlier this year. As soon as they grabbed the soft plastic they headed straight under the pier pylons. Also saw a large KGW and some nice Aussie Salmon.

Impressive photos looks like a ripper place!!

Whats the best way to fish this location? baits or plastics? any idea how deep it is?

I went out there last year to take a look but didnt fish.

That last pic is exactly why i go fishing.
