Torquay fishing report

Post by Matty H » Sat Apr 21, 2018 9:34 pm

Headed out 1pm'ish from fishos with a favourable forecast on offer. Slight easterly didn't affect proceedings and motored around to Jan Juc finding a nice bit of flat sand past reef in 40 ft of water. Chucked some berley, rods out n waited. 10 minutes in and my mate announces he's on! Nice flattie bagged, I had been expecting pinkies, but who doesn't like a flattie fillet!? Several more followed for a good bag, before the bait species moved in - yakkas, couple of different mackerel species, and big couta taking every cast. The sounder kept calling 26ft depth the schools were that thick. Thoroughly entertaining arvo with the boat behaving perfectly. Other boats back at the ramp had good bags of pinkies, with a few larger snapper sprinkled through, and plenty of squid.
