lorne 22/03/15

Post by Basti » Mon Mar 23, 2015 9:34 pm

just a quick report from the weekend. took a drive to lorne for the day with a friend. it was going to be a solo fishing trip but she liked the idea of a drive so i only ended up fishing for about 30min in the day. Got into town in time for lunch then had a look at the erskine falls. due to lack of rain, it wasn't that spectacular but still very beautiful. Icing on the cake was seeing two small brown trout in the pools right underneath the viewing platform. they were very acclimated to people and were feeding even as people splashed past. tired to get a pic

chucked a metal around the surf for no return. great weather though.

You can fish the rivers around there. I've caught small browns out of a river down near Forrest. Great fun wading up a river in the middle of rainforest.

I haven't spent a heap of time down there Mick so by no means an expert on the area.

From my experience it's mostly small rivers / small fish so more about the hunt than the fight. There are a few fish around though.

There's a few articles around if you want to google them on the aire river system which apparently holds some large sea run trout. No first had experience though.

@tommyfishunter there's only one trout in that pic, they were in separate pools and the other pic didn't turn out well.

Jim I'm definitely going to go back with my gear and without any non fisho tag alongs
