Spiny Crayfish traps.

Post by codroft » Tue Jun 21, 2011 4:48 pm

Hi All,
I was watching the leisure show on Aurora and they had a guy name Jeff Hayes?

This guy commercial makes mud crab pots. The interesting thing is that his pots arent traditional and from my reading the the victorian rec fishing guidleines, I reckon they would be legal.

Not that I am going to test the waters here, but as you will see they are a 2 hoop construction with larger mesh, the only thing is that the measurement of the hoops may be a bit big, but I reackon you could alter this.

Given this these nets have the potential to catch a lot of spiny crays, and with limited opportunites for them to escape?

interested in peoples thoughts?

I have a few nets in storage at the moment.

Have fond memories on cold mornings with the frost still on the ground going craying with the old man.
