Bakers dozen of carp

Post by Oldmanriver » Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:00 am

Fished locally in Swan Hill yesty in the little Murray River behind the Pioneer Settlement & with the natives still pretty scarce the carp certainly kept me occupied landing 13 of them with the biggest one going at 70cm & 3.5kgs :a_goodjob: & a few of them at 60cm, so a good little session. There was just the 1 small silver perch caught as well. The cod & yellas are as scarce as hens teeth around here & have been for a couple of years, however its still great just having a line in & I certainly want to be fishing when the natives start biting once again :D

At least the carp keep you interested! I assume natives suffered with blackwater episode a few years ago? Is there any restocking program going?
thanks

Dead right Jim, the blackwater event devastated this part of the Murray & as its the closest location to home its where I mostly fish, but when I feel the urge for better %'s for natives I can do the kerang lakes, however they are still hard to catch before the reddies & carp get first options on your bait. I'm not aware of any current restocking programs in the river system, but the lakes get them from time to time.
