Hey all,
I went and bought a landing net after that nice carp broke me off. Went down to the locale channel with my heavy gear ( 10 kilo Alvy baitcast, 10 kilo Alvy spin rod- both orbiters) and set up. I didn’t bring any bait so I let the bait net sit in the water for a while and then when I got some shrimp I was on a roll
The wind was really going for it and that made it hard to detect bites. I got a few decent ones, no hook ups though. Then after around 3 hours fishing my spin rod got a huge bite which hooked itself.
The fish took out a bit of drag but it didn’t feel like a carp to me, and when it did it’s first surface I saw the colours and new it was way better then a carp.
I landed it quickly with the help of my landing net and I was stoked with my first yella of the year. It measured 46 cm and 1 1/2 kilo and its by far my PB yella.

Re: First yella of the year
That's a good size yellowbelly. Look how thick that is.
Well done.
Live freshwater shrimp is the best bait for them I reckon. You can get cod too. Good stuff.
