Post by Bob Kerr » Sun Dec 30, 2012 9:49 pm

Hi just new to this site, wondering if anyone has tried lillydale lake in the past few days,
I would like to take the lovely lady somewhere to catch a fish or two. I would like to throw
around some lures I got for chrissy, cheers,
Bob.

Always worth a try, with lures the dam wall is your best bet. Bait around the other side near where the boats launch.

I havent caught anything in the lake since they cleaned it out. Went out in the kayaks a couple of times and yet to see any rising or movement.

Went down tonight and threw my Tassie Devils around at the wall. Not a thing, not a touch or a bite or a nibble or a follow up.

There was a family of asians fishing off tone of the platforms there that seemed to be cast and retrieving floats? and another guy rocked up just as i was leaving with a metal looking lure that seemed to be 5 inches long.

Big thumbs down for the place, not sure i'll bother again.

Giving up after one attempt? If we all did that we would all exhuast most of the waterways very quickly.
As the weather heats up the lake does not fish as well. I am waiting till Autumn as things cool down again and hopefully there has been another stocking of the lake by the as well.

Not giving up Chris, just have effectively unlimited time until about March and i'm not sure if it's worth the one or two days a week I spend fishing to go back there when i can literally go anywhere I can drive too in a day.

I have no doubt there are fish in there and that it's a good place to take the family or girlfriend or whatever who want to try it but to me it doens't have the solitude that i enjoy when i go trout fishing.

Might swing out and have a look at Auravale tomorrow. Would love to find a place (even if there's no fish) that has the same feeling as the acheron or the Rubicon or the kiewa without having to drive a couple of hours each way.
