Stream fishing

Post by Pethrk » Tue Apr 10, 2018 4:17 pm

Hey guys quick question

Me and 3 mates are heading away this weekend for some trout and are planning to walk in pairs upstream my question is how long do you think is needed for the 2 blokes who follow the first 2 upstream for the trout to come back out and start taking lures again?

Cheers

Now im no gun fisherman but this always has worked for me and my late Dad taught me this as a kid. Start upstream and walk away from the bank downstream and work your way back upstream. Theory was trout lay looking upstream waiting for things to float downstream. By doing that they are focusing in the opposite direction to your now approach and your behind their line of sight. You cast up, in front of them and your bait, lure or fly now approaches them in a natural manner. I have always fished trout streams that way and swear by it. Still use stealth and approach lightly, no kicking of rocks, breaking of sticks etc. Its not the sound but the vibrations of doing those things transferred through the ground then the water that Spook's them. My Dad was an awesome trout fisho.

If you can fish different waterways or sections of that stream.

From your entry point 2 walk downstream and fish back up and 2 fish upstream and walk back down.
End up in the same place and fish different water.

Have done this quite a number of times.
For 4 people fishing - Need 2 cars and a spare set of keys for each.
Process - Pick 3 spots on river that are accessible by foot and about a mile+ apart (Distance is up to you)
Drop 2 people at first point, downstream, so that they can fish up stream to point 2, give then spare set of keys for car 1.
Drive both cars upstream to point 3. leave car 2 at point 3, keep keys.
Drive car 1 back to point 2. leave car at point 2 and fish upstream to point 3
When crew fishing from point 1 reach point 2 they can access car 1
When crew fishing from point 2 reach point 3 they can access car 2 and drive back to point 2.

Whoever gets back to point 2 first - Nothing attracts hungry fisherman like food cooking.

Read carefully.

There isn’t any spot other than the first entry point

Just walk downstream well away from the bank and then fish upstream back to the car mate, rather than playing musical cars....hehe makes my head hurt Russell. Or start fishing upstream straight away and then walk back to your car. Simple is best and the above works for two anglers if you each adopt one or the other method.
