hmmm like the challange of fishing, but messing with too many snakes sounds like going a few steps too far.....might have to rethink that idea.

yeap think I will give it a wide birth until the weather cools back down and they go into hibernation for a while.
Unless I can find a nice open streach where the visibility is high and I can see them coming...lol

Re: plenty river trout sucsess
Hi, blamo10, very nice photo, and so happy to see a brown in Plenty River.
I live not far to plenty river, I normally fish in the mill park lakes area, but all carps there are very small.
my daughter really wants to see me catching a big carp, but I can't go anywhere far due to the new born son,
can you please give me some good spot I can take my daughter there to catch some carp?
thanks heaps

Hey Robert_jj,
You can try Roxburgh Park Lakes, especially the larger one on Lakeside Drive, or the lakes at Greenvale Reservoir. Have picked up many a carp out of them up to 5.5 kg.

Middle gorge park is close to you and has some big deep slow moving pools with carp eels reddies and some other random surprises that pop up sometimes haha. Try worms as a bait because every fish in the river basically eats worms also when the river is a bit clearer in summer try some spinners and rapalas in and below the rapids, that's how I got me trout and I've caught reddies as well doing the same thing.
Anyway good luck
Ps: some of the carp in these big pools are huge and at the moment te water is warmer and they are migrating upstream through the rapids and are school below the big ones so now Is a good
Time to try
