Lauriston Redfin

Post by Marty.A » Sun Mar 12, 2017 9:08 pm

Hello all
Its been over 6 weeks since my last fishing trip due to me taking care of my elderly father, but managed to get in a fun session at Lauriston Res early today with a surprise result. Arrived at 7.00am and immediately noticed small baitfish breaching the surface so I threw on my trusty Vibrax minnow and started pulling in reddies no bigger than the palm of my hand :( after a couple of hours of this it was wearing a bit thin so I thought about some payback on the little pests.Next tiddler I caught I hooked him through the top lip and threw him back in .He was nervously darting around for about 10min when there was a huge crash on the surface in the vicinity of the little fella and low and behold a nice fat 38cm Redfin swallowed him whole :-D
After a feisty fight I landed the big boy with a big grin on my face as the say payback is a b!tch

On a footnote due to the logging before Xmas there is no access across the dam wall as it has a locked gate. And the access track off Shepherds Hill Rd is also closed til further notice. I must say they have destroyed a lot of Lauriston's charm with the removal of those pine trees they have scarred the area in my opinion.

Cheers
Marty.

Absolute thumper Marty - well thought out and deserved. Sorry to hear about your father, hope the time in the water served as a good break from it all

Ripper of a redfin Marty, well done.. they're greedy buggers that's for sure..

Good to see you father was feeling a little better and you managed to wet a line mate.. That would have eased some of the stress too..

cheers

Yeah, they used to close it off over the fire danger period, as there is only 1 rd in and out, so it is very easy to get stuck if there is a fire in the area.

Nice work Marty  Another spot where we used to fish it from was near the wall of the upper coliban reservoir and walk down the hill to Lauriston there were definately bigger fish in that area.
