Bright trout

Post by Clintos » Tue Jan 17, 2017 10:38 am

Hi all,

I'm taking holidays in mid February and have managed to get the wife to agree to stop off in Bright on our way to Merimbula. I've never been to Bright but I've heard it's excellent for trout in the many streams.

Does anyone have any experience in this area that could point me in the right direction? I'm staying right in the town center and from maps appears the Ovens is the main river with quite a few streams running about the place. I'm used to small stream fishing where I can wade with an ultra light set up throwing lures about so that's what I'm after.

cheers

Clint.

The Ovens is great, although I like it closer to Harrietville than Bright. There's a few tracks through the pine plantations off the main road that take you down to the river. Also the Buckland and Eurobin are worth a look which are smaller waters. Merimbula via Bright is certainly taking the long way round...
