Wimmera river carping
Great day here today, 34c temps and light winds which saw me keen to wet a line in our marvelous Wimmera river.
Fishing was good all day, with the highlight of the session being a lovely little hybrid carp x goldfish that i came across in the shallows mooching around. A quick cast with a bit of corn and bingo, it was on... ended up with 14 all up for the day which isnt to bad. no sign of a native, but had plenty of small redfin pestering the soft plastics but failing to hook up. I look foward to my next expidition to the wimmera river for further exploration of what is a wonderful waterway.

Yellowbelly yes, the Wimmera river relies on stocking (no natural recruitment) so catch and release is probably the best bet to ensure a fishery into the future. Cod no, execpt for the lower reaches of the wimmera river, but they are few and far between.

Hi mate, Not any Eel in the Wimmera river, but the has been the odd unconfirmed catch following floods ect. The Hopkins River holds good populations of eel, also lakes Bolac and Burrumbeet.LazyJohnno wrote:Hey Woolley any eels in the Wimmera?

Nothing more terrifying inhabits our southern waters in my eyes.........Cornacarpio wrote:I believe Eels are one of Woolleybugger's favourite catches....
