Good to see the spinners did the job, pink colour of the flesh usually comes from eating plenty of water snails & shrimp..Whiskers wrote:Adrian. The fish were caught on a small Mepps Red Fury fished on 4lb line.
Ducky. Your question got me thinking. I retrieved the stomach this morning and emptied the contents into a bowl of water. The fish had been gorging itself on any number of small black nymphs, a ton of mosquito larvae and a large amount of crunched shell material, probably water snails.
There was also a few large beetle wing cases (about 3/4 of an inch long) a number of small tadpoles and the remnants of a couple of minnows.
Very much a five star diet!
The flesh of this fish is a beautiful dark salmon pink.

Should be good eating that's for sure..
