tyers river, tanjil river west branch
Started my 2016/17 trout season off last week with the nice weather with a wade up tyers river at Christmas creek road. The water level wasnt too high so walking it was much easier than i expected. Ended up with 10 trout which is about average for that stretch of river. All fish were caught on a wildbait mino in brown trout pattern.
The next day i i tryd my luck up west tanjil river which was a bit harder walk with the water level still a bit high making fidhing hard. Only managed to catch 3 fish but was lucky enough to get a nice 42cm brown caught on a green and black spinner.

Nice report and beaut looking fish. How do you approach it- do you wade upstream and bring the lure back with the current?

Yeh thats all i do deathray. Trout face up stream so you cast up and bring it back down. I generally try and keep the lure the same speed as water current.
