Carp Hot-Spots Around Victoria
I recently got into carp fishing but have been fishing since a young age. I rarely catch Carp but have tried various locations like Pykes Creek, Lake Burrumbeet, Cairn Curran Reservoir and nearby park lakes. I've had some luck in Cairn Curran catching 9 comons and Lake Burrumbeet which i only caught 5 but not a touch in Pykes Creek. I usually have a lot of time to go fishing and i can go fairly far distances but i am writing today so i can find out about some hot locations for carp which almost guarantee hits. School holidays are coming up in around a month and since im only 14, im looking to spark up some more passion for the sport and soon get into bigger game fishing but im happy with carp and perch at the moment. Any advice on best baits and locations would be much appreciated and any advice on specific areas on the lakes.
Thank you!

G'day and welcome Dean, good luck with your carp hunt and you fishing ambitions, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

They're everywhere mate but fishing never comes with a guarantee I just fish local waters for them if I find myself with spare time after work most little freshwater creeks n even a lot of suburban lakes hold a lot of them
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Re: Carp Hot-Spots Around Victoria
Hi Dean ,
As im from England i love my carp fishing too . Iv never had much luck in the winter time but my top spots are
Merri creek- anywhere around Coburg . The fish in the stretches of creek above coburg lake average around 7lb but i saw lots of folk feeding the ducks in the dam with bread and from my experience i knew that in the stretches below the lake they would be bigger and i had my australian pb from there at 15lb , really fat fish from feeding up on bread .
Dandenong creek is also great had loads out of there
Try using different baits to the usual corn , they can get wise to corn i think. Try using luncheon meat / spam cut into 1.5 cm cubes. It can be a pain in the ass to keep on the hook but if you are just fishing the margins you'll be fine . I could rattle on for hours about rigs and bait etc but if you want a real insight into carp fishing have a look on some english websites or type KORDA thinking tackle in youtube and you will get some great knowledge.
Hope this helps

Re: Carp Hot-Spots Around Victoria
Welcome Dean
What area do you live in ?????
the Plenty River is where a lot of carp are caught.
Lakes are ok, but, like Coburg Lake, the ducks can be a pain.
Give us your "general" location & we'll work from there.
Cheers
