Another crack at the creeks

Post by skronkman » Thu Jun 09, 2016 3:36 pm

I decided to head back out into the Yarra ranges creeks ant see if I could convert some more worms. Found a nice little creek only a few feet across and densely forested in tree ferns but the water was clear enough so i thought I'd have a go. First little hole only 10 feet from the road and out came this little guy.

A bit further down and a blackfish paid me a visit

This was a beautiful part of the creek and another black fish.

Another brown

a good size blackfish before I was hungry and wanted to head home for some lunch.

But just one more.....

I'd flicked off a few leeches during the day but never noticed the one sucking the life out of me from my neck till I got home and looked in the mirror. Boy did he make a mess.

All my new fishy friends were returned to the creek to live another day.

That's an awesome little session. It's surprising how much life there is in such small waterways.

That's the type of skinny water you cross to get to the bigger streams just goes to show fish can be anywhere well done mate.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Yep, its lots of fun fishing those creeks in the Yarra catchment, though more fun in summer than winter!

Your leech bite brought back a few memories. They are a bit like snakes, once you have seen one for the day you spend a lot of time looking for them.
