Those small creek trout always fight well for their size.
Nice to see them go back too.

Re: Another crack at the creeks
The leech was probably only an inch long and 3mm thick when he landed on me (judging by the other 20 I flicked off) but when he dropped off into my shirt he was about 2 inches long and as thick as my little finger. He really gorged himself. To be honest they don't really bother me that much, there is no pain involved. I dread the day I ever come across a tick though. Not sure if they're around this area but I've heard of them paralysing dogs!
They were only little fish today and I still have old smokey in the fridge to eat this weekend. I usually only keep one trout at a time so these fellas all had lucky days.

Skronkman
Those little ones might ok (until you get one in your ear or attached to the eyeball) but then there are upsized versions called tiger leeches you get in the bigger rivers and some dams.
Anyone remember the movie 'The African Queen'? Humphrey Boggart got well sucked.
Found this image of a BIG leech:

I've had a few ticks but the worst up north is scrub itch - tiny mites that get into your socks or under your belt. You want to rip your flesh off with those mongrels.

Mate, if I thought those things were in the creek I'd give up fishing and find an indoor hobby. Stat.

Memories of the days being in the scouts.. do people still use salt to get them off?
Nice fishing man..do you wade through the water when bait fishing?

In the Yarra Valley the "human leech" is way more prolific and a pain in the ass then the bush variety. Although every now and then you may be able to get both species to suck on ya nutz.
