High Country Trout Report
After a nice mountain bike ride at Bright this previous Sunday, I was off to try and get onto a few Trout. I steered away from my usual Pins Minnows and Rapalas, and decided drift some scrub worms as I hadn't bait fished for trout for a few months and I couldn't get my hands on any crickets or hoppers. Started off pretty well with a small brown from the first hole that I flicked; I continued on after that to the next hole in which I had many strikes but no hook ups. Another 50 meters up the creek I hooked onto a small rainbow trout, which managed to get off whilst being landed with my hand. Another 50 meters up the creek I managed to land the second and last fish of the afternoon, a small yet beautifully coloured rainbow trout. To my amazement, in the last hole that I fished, I spotted quite a large brown trout which would of been 55-60cm; the big fella wasn't interested.
Although not an extremely successful day, it was still a lot better than being stuck indoors!
If you're interested, this is a video of the afternoons fishing with an extra clip at the end from the previous trip- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BSRoT-

Couple of nice fish there mate, well done. Bright is one of my favorite regions for trout.

Good report Lachie. What size hooks do you use? Also, regarding the 'big fella' that wasn't interested...you know where he lives!

Re: High Country Trout Report
Thanks mate, I usually use something in the range of a size 6 baitholder. Very true! I even have his location marked on the GPS :a_goodjob:Mutley and Scruffy wrote:Good report Lachie. What size hooks do you use? Also, regarding the 'big fella' that wasn't interested...you know where he lives!

Good work, a couple of nice trout there, cheers davo. :a_goodjob:
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
